Description

Next-Gen aircraft and space vehicle designs require the need for enabling technologies that can extend the flight envelope, enhance aerodynamic and propulsive performance, while being cost effective and environment friendly. Key technologies involving efficiency, environment and performance of a supersonic aircraft will be of importance in the futuristic programs. The design of a supersonic inlet for performance gains has been and will remain of primary importance to the aircraft industry. In this study, we propose to a simple, novel inlet design involving a series of oblique shocks generated through the actuation of fluidic microjet arrays for better pressure recovery, low spillage drag and good quality subsonic flow at the engine face.
