Description
A design that holds significant promise for the present application is a microjet-based actuator that produces unsteady high momentum jets; these actuators are referred to as Resonance Enhanced Microjets (REM). REM have the proven ability to produce very high amplitude, discrete frequency disturbances and sound. Our group at the Florida State University (FSU) has developed microjet actuators for a number of years, where they have been used for the active control of subsonic 1-2 supersonic cavity3-4 and jet flows. 5-7 Recent advances in REM design at FSU have produced actuators that appear to have the requisite properties for the present application.
